I feel Forgotten

According to Isaiah 49:15, God will never forget you: “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast, and have no compassion on the child she has born? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!”

You may be thinking to yourself, “If God has not forgotten me, what is happening?” Never forget that God’s purpose for Joseph was far greater than merely bringing him out of prison. He wanted to put him in the palace. Therefore, timing was everything.

If Joseph would have been released from prison before Pharaoh had the dream, he may never have reached the throne of Egypt.

The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.

Genesis 40:23
In the darkness of Pharaoh’s prison, Joseph had shined like a burning beacon. Not only had he excelled as a leader, but he had also discovered the fullness of his spiritual gifting. He was not only a dreamer of dreams; he was an interpreter of dreams.

His interpretations had been exactly right.
The baker had been hung, while the cupbearer had been restored to his position in Pharaoh’s court. Surely the cupbearer would speak to Pharaoh about Joseph’s imprisonment now that he had been restored to his position of power.
Yet as the days turned into months, Joseph knew the cupbearer did not remember him.

Do you see it now? Even in life’s most painful moments, when we feel totally abandoned by God and man, our loving Father is at work to bring us into the destiny for which we were born. He is both working needed character in us, as well as working His perfect timing in the circumstances around us. As you ponder these thoughts, let the words of James 1:4 ignite a fresh flame of faith and hope in the depths of your heart.

“Perseverance must finish its work so you can be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
